Good Goals for Happiness

How can setting the right goals bring happiness? Goals bring life into focus. They give meaning and purpose to life.

We tend to get involved with people, activities, and things with a great surge of energy and pleasurable expectations. Anticipation fans our expectations. Our hope is that reaching an objective will result in great satisfaction and pleasure. Then, after several months or years of effort, we end up disillusioned. (read more)

Mind Management

The mind is the most private part of your inner life. No one can know for sure what you allow to enter into it, and no one can know what goes on in your mind unless you reveal it. The longer I work with people, the more convinced I become that everyone can and does control his mind. We make our own decisions, and no one can change them. Everyone has the power of choice. What Is Your Measuring Stick?

What do you measure things against to guide your decisions about what is right and wrong?  Everyone has something that they use to help them decide if it is right to do something or not.  Politicians use popularity polls to direct their campaigns.  Actors and actresses are not considered marketable if their movies don’t do well at the box office.  When they are in a slump, the decision is made for them by the studio.  Corporations make decisions based on the upward or downward turn of the graph line on a Profit and Loss Report.  Many people go by popular opinion of their friends or the media.
