Additional Verses that Define Sin

If you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. (James 2:9, NKJV)

To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. (James 4:17, NKJV)

He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the needy. (Proverbs 14:21, NIV)

Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. (1 Samuel 15:23, NKJV)

The wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. *There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.” (Isaiah 57:20-21 NIV)

There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies, and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers. (Proverbs 6:16-19, NIV)

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. (1 John 3:15, NKJV)

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:27-28, NKJV)

All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:6, NKJV)

If you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. (James 3:14-16, NKJV)

Your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2, NKJV)

“She will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21, NKJV)

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. (Psalm 32:1, NKJV)
